EKSU to Build More Hostels, Upgrade Health Centre, Expand Facilities — VC Assures Students

The Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, has reassured students of the university’s commitment to improving welfare, infrastructure, and learning facilities across campus.
The assurance was given during the Vice-Chancellor–Students’ Union Forum held on Monday, January 26, 2026, where the Vice-Chancellor responded to key concerns raised by the Students’ Union President, Comrade Anjola, and other student leaders.
More Hostels to Address Accommodation Challenges
Professor Ayodele disclosed that the university is working towards breaking the monopoly surrounding student accommodation within the school environment. According to him, plans are underway to construct additional hostels to reduce accommodation pressure and provide more affordable housing options for EKSUITES.
Bigger Theatre Hall for Theatre and Media Arts (TMA)
The Vice-Chancellor also announced that the Department of Theatre and Media Arts (TMA) will soon get a larger and more suitable theatre hall. He explained that the current facility is overcrowded and no longer adequate for the department’s academic and practical activities.
Upgraded and Digitised Health Centre for EKSU Students
Addressing students’ health concerns, Professor Ayodele stated that the university is prioritising the upgrade and digitisation of the EKSU Health Centre.
- ₦10 million has been released for the purchase of drugs
- The health centre will be fully upgraded and digitised
- Students will have access to healthcare services anywhere in the world using a health card
- Health registration will become a requirement for obtaining a matriculation number
- Emergency healthcare access lines are being arranged for students
- The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) will monitor all health centre upgrade processes
Students’ Union Raises Welfare Concerns
Earlier, the Students’ Union President, Comrade Anjola, spoke on behalf of EKSU students, raising issues related to:
- Accommodation
- Transportation
- Power supply
- Release and upgrading of graduating students’ results
- General student welfare
EKSU Convocation Dates Announced
The Vice-Chancellor further announced that the EKSU Convocation Ceremony is scheduled to hold between April 7 and April 11, 2026.
The forum ended on a positive note, with assurances from the university management that students’ concerns remain a top priority as EKSU continues to strengthen its academic standards and student welfare.
