Postgraduate Programmes are Bedrock of Innovation, Says EKSU VC at Matriculation
The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, Professor Babatola Ayodele, has described postgraduate programmes in Nigerian universities as the bedrock of innovation and critical inquiry.
The Vice Chancellor made the remarks while addressing matriculants at the ceremony for newly admitted candidates into the regular, sandwich, and professional Postgraduate programmes for the 2024/2025 academic session.
VC Charges Matriculants to Pursue High-Impact Research
Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Williams Adebayo, Professor Ayodele emphasized that the postgraduate programmes are designed to nurture students into "enigmas of great repute."
The Vice Chancellor strongly challenged the new postgraduate students to:
- Fulfill a culture of pursuing researches with rigour;
- Translate their research results into making real impact in the society; and
- Strive towards addressing pressing global challenges, specifically citing climate change and the outbreak of diseases caused by natural phenomena.
EKSU: The Best State University in Nigeria
Professor Ayodele congratulated the new students on their admission into the University and charged them to make best use of the opportunities offered by the university, noting that EKSU is currently the best state university in Nigeria.
The matriculation oath was administered on the matriculants by the Registrar, Mr. Ife Oluwole after the presentation of the candidates by the Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Babatope Oyewole.
